In the Nevada desert around 1930, only a couple of houses stood around an oasis. Today, we can find a booming city with more than 600,000 inhabitants and a flourishing leisure industry. Throughout the U.S., the game of chance was forbidden. When the ban was lifted in 1931 in Nevada, casinos started quickly shooting up in the desert one right after another. And this boom is still going on. About forty million visitors come yearly to Las Vegas for gambling and amusement.
